DANCEe is an internationally celebrated contemporary dance company previously based out of NYC that was just planted in Birmingham. I've been captivated by the living art of dance my entire life and started doing marketing and PR with DANCEe in December. Things have been moving fast since then. They have been connected with Woodrow Hall, an old Masonic temple that has recently been transformed into event space. We've been working a lot with an amazing photographer, Edward Badham creating and musing. DANCEe also connected with ART FOLK a non-profit art collective. I am so excited to see dead and living art coming together and getting creative to support each other. These are some pictures of DANCEe in the BEAUTIFUL Woodrow Hall.

So, I was in Atlanta two weeks ago to hear Francis Eagle. I hadn't heard them play before, but the lead singer, Emory Goocher is one of my best friends so I decided to take a quick trip to go see them.

I'm so glad I did!

They played at the Vinyl which is a great place to party!

I've been to a lot of shows in my life (heck, I used to work in a hip music venue in Nashville, Music City USA) but this was one of the most fun shows I've ever been to. Ok, so some of that might be that the crowd and bands were sprinkled with people that I like a lot, but honestly, the music was on point!

I've heard Emory play solo, and though I don't like making musical comparisons,

I always get a feeling of Sufjan Stevens meets old Rilo Kiley.

How could that go wrong?

The people I have heard describe Francis Eagle have made comparisons to The Decemberist, Smashing Pumpkins, The Good Life, and Rufus Wainwright.

So basically, everyone who hears them compares them to something good, but I always get a sense that there is an edge of frustration or confusion in not nailing a perfect fusion comparison...

That frustration, is called individuality!

This band seriously wooed me with familiarity, and hooked me with something different.

They opened for a band that I hadn't yet heard of, Shook Foil. This is a bold statement, that I could only make after much consideration:

I haven't shaken my ass that hard in years!!

I love it when non-dance bands get my thang swangin'!

If you are in the Atlanta area tonight, they are playing the Vinylagain!

This time, they're opening for River City Extension. Tickets are only five bucks. This is a good chance to check them out early, because I'm sure they will have more expensive shows in their future!

At first, I wasn't sure how I would feel about this show. Usually, I have mixed feelings about Chanel because it doesn't fit my personal aesthetic preferences. Obviously, I am not their target market being that I am not a senator's wife or filthy rich heiress. I ALWAYS like what Paul Lagerfeld is wearing, but typically, I am not a fan of conservative women's suits. I usually just take note of Chanel's production quality and respect it's luxury and the shows are always entertaining.

This show, however, slowly wooed me,

and by the end, my jaw was on the floor.

So, I've been doing some photo-styling again.

I recently did some work with Liesa Cole, a photographer that I love! She's been working with bMETRO magazine, and contacted me in September to style a photo-shoot at the

historic Lyric Theatre.

Set The Stage

Ok, I admit it, I didn't know much about the Lyric Theatre at the time (probably because I am still fairly new to Birmingham).

It is seriously, one of the most amazing places that I have ever stepped foot in.

The day I toured it to conceptualize the shoot, I was told that it had already undergone hundreds of man hours of cleaning yet I still managed to stumble upon old buttons in the dressing rooms, whole pigeon skeletons in the balcony, and a thick mystic sense of life in the dust.

Don't get a head of yourself Milo; Here's the Brief:

The Lyric theatre opened in 1914 as a live performance vaudeville theatre. At the time, it was the only theatre in Birmingham that offered seating for blacks and whites. Unfortunately, for Birmingham, it held this title for a long time. Over the years, the function of the Lyric Theatre changed while its beautiful ornate architectural details remained.

It housed legendary acts such as Mae West, Roy Rogers, Sophie Tucker, Milton Berle, the Marx Brothers and many others in its days as a live performance theatre.

In 1978, after being used as an Adult Film Theatre, the Lyric closed.

Rumor has it, on the night it closed, the projectionist was arrested for showing

"Deep Throat".

This gem of show biz history didn't see the light of day for about 30 years.

In 2008 a group of people stumbled upon it, and have been working to get it restored.

The Lobby

I could not plan a better venue to style a shoot. This project was one of the most interesting projects that I have ever been involved with. I extremely intrigued by urban renewal and I really believe that restoring this theatre will greatly benefit the city that I live in.

I have been shaking my butt to this song for about two years or so before I realized that the video I was salivating over was actually shot as a part of promotions for Ma Dame, the latest addition to J-PG's line of perfumes. On top of that, I found out today that the video was actually shot in Gaultier's own home in Paris! I love when music and fashion work together!

Martina has been on my crush of the week list before, and with every single, I find myself more and more infatuated with her style, voice, and lyrics.

It's that face though that really drives me wild!

Because of Dragonette, I have been introduced to a lot of great DJ's! Aside from these two videos, they have done some amazing collaboration work! The latest that I've heard was the single, Anamale, with Don Diablo, a Dutch record producer, released in November 2010. I can not wait to see/hear what's next. I'm sure I will post it soon!

So, I wonder what it's like to live the life of a performer / fashion and music muse.

I found an old issue of Italian Casa Vogue at the Foundry, a thift store in Bessemer Alabama. What?!? Anyway, it was bitter sweet because while it was beautiful, I can not read a word of Italian. This spread however spoke to me. My eyes lit up, get it? These images are SO my aesthetic.

I was doing some research on Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet and I found this collaboration that they did with Worth and Worth for Fall 2010. I love mixing fashion and dance! I've been doing some work with Elizabeth Ross of DANCEe, an internationally celebrated dance company that is setting up shop in Birmingham. She turned me on to Cedar Lake. I'm definitely being inspired by the art of dance.

So, as you know I have been playing my hand as fashion designer, and I couldn't be happier with the way things are going. I will be having a show with the launch of my spring line in spring 2011. I feel like it is important, due to the nature of my resources and current market to launch in season instead of preseason. Up to this point, I have been doing a good bit of freelance design. Other than that, I have found myself getting so excited about each piece that I end up giving most of my garments to friends. Sorry friends, but that ends this year! I'm going to be spend much of my time focusing on the spring and try to keep my mouth shut about it. Of course, I will be making a few fall pieces here and there such as this one to satiate my craving to see people I like in projects I enjoy.

Halloween Time . . . You better WORK!

Halloween can be stressful for anyone who likes to get down or dress up. I find it especially frantic because I work in the only vintage shop in my city. I have been working at Zoe for a year now. I was hired last year to do merchandising and costume consulting, and I have found that my job has expanded to be so much more. I have learned many lessons about working a small business, vintage clothing, clothing brands and labels, fabrics, and so much more. Ok, that isn't what this post is about though. This post is about Halloween! October has always been a big month for Zoe. October 2009 was the best month Zoe has seen in the thirteen years it has been open. Our costumes were literally flying out the door. This year however, I have noticed that people aren't as excited about Halloween. Zoe has been continuing to grow though, and even though we haven't been selling as many costumes, it looks like we might still be in competition to possibly have another record breaking month!

So what do I decide to do when it seems Birmingham has forgotten about Halloween?

I take Halloween out of the store and throw it in their face!

This is one of my favorite times of the year; the weather's just right and people are wanting get creative. Thursday night, Mean Girls was playing at the park, so I dressed myself and two of my beautiful and willing models up and we went to be seen, dancing on the green! We passed out promotional coupons and gave people some great photo ops! It's only October 17th, and I have already worked 9 costumes! After the month is over, I will try to put up at least one picture or so of each! Until then: Trick or Treat!?

Sometimes I get frustrated with Birmingham's fashion scene. I must say however that the fashion and music spread for this month's issue of Birmingham Magazine was utterly on point. The issue highlights the Mad Men fashion craze along with two very talented and beautiful women: Maria Taylor and her sister Kate. You've probably heard Maria Taylor's name thrown around in cool music circles. She is a member of Azure Ray, she has collaborated with Bright Eyes, Crooked Fingers, and Moby and she released album with Saddle Creek Records (like Rilo Kiley,'s a member of the She was signed with Saddle Creek records (like Rilo Kiley, The Faint, and many more of my favorite bands!)

I had no clue that Maria was from Birmingham. I was extremely aware of Kate Taylor's presence in Birmingham however. That may sound creepy, but I am sure there are plenty of other guys who can say it. I first heard her play at a coffee house show that I randomly ended up at and was enthralled. She is gorgeous, and effortlessly talented. She bartends at one of Birmingham's most popular hang out spots. I learned a lot about her reading this article, and I hope it helps to promote her music.

The character that I have been most fascinated with in this article is the set. I have heard about The Club before, and have wanted to go. I'm not a member though, not loaded, and not a senior citizen so I haven't had the opportunity. In 1951, when it opened, Birmingham News called it “slice of fairyland…a festive occasion, in perfect taste, with an overall-plush dignity.”

It was designed to be like no other social hot spot in the nation and has been preserved to retain its original magic. What we call "retro" was cutting edge at the time. Either way, it appears to be extremely charming with it's light up dance floor, cool views, and entertainment.

Ok, I know it isn't terribly popular to be into country music, and I can understand why. For the most part, the country music and culture that has been widely promoted in the last 35 years has been crap. About four years ago, I started revisited the classics; I started listening to Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams, and of course Johnny Cash. I moved to Nashville in 2007 and started noticing these legend's influences in modern indie music. I've talked with many working musicians such as Jenny Lewis and Michelle Patterson from Barry and Michelle and told them that I noticed a little Dolly flair in their music. Both took it as a huge compliment! So, why is it so uncool to admit to liking country music?

. . . because modern pop country music hasn't produced anything like this in a long time.

The lyrics are clever.

The video is charming: great style, wonderful set, beautiful people.

The song is catchy enough to get in your head, and pretty enough to want it to stay there.

Men's Harem Pants

Just like every trend I fall in love with, I have one of two options in Birmingham: buy online, or buy out of the big girl section. The thing about that though is you can't find a simple pair for under $50, and I know that this trend may come and go like Gouchos. I wish I could just teleport to Central America or Hong Kong where they sell them for like $15. I know I keep going on and on about how lame American men's street fashion is, but I can't help it! I'm tired of people thinking I am crazy or weird for dressing cool. The other night, I was hanging out with some friends and I over heard this guy saying "Why is everyone stealing my style?!" and I will admit, it made me roll my eyes a bit. He was wearing a flannel shirt (in August) and cut off skinny jeans. This look has been popular for literally the last ten years at least, and had it's play in the early 90's with baggier pants. I'll be honest, and perhaps it is silly, but I am so tired of standing out BUT I hate boring clothes!

As you might have guessed, I have a huge interest in recycled products. Sadly, I am not an environment freak, I just find reused materials to be more interesting. As a designer, I tend to love vintage fabrics, prints, and silhouettes. I have been talking to a carpenter lately about collaborating some designs that are swimming around in my head. I want to take odd objects that have been discarded and put them to better use. Why waste more stuff when we have junk yards and thrift stores full of things that have been waisted?

A friend of mine just moved to Alabama to Manhattan. At first she was worried because she didn't know how to furnish her new apartment, and the expense of transporting her durty south furnishings was not really practical. I told her to check craigslist, and she reported an interesting discovery. I knew that there was a category devoted to free stuff, but personally hadn't seen anything better than "free fire wood". Apparently, in New York City, due to the lack of space and storage, people are giving away treasures just to be rid of clutter fast. I just browsed it and found some cool things that have been posted in just the last two days. If I checked it for a week, I'm sure I could convince myself to rent a U-Haul and take a trip.

I just moved out of my beloved 1400 sq foot loft with factory windows and lots of storage space. I now live in a 100sq foot camper; it is a huge transition. I have noticed a new sense of freedom and so much more free time (it takes me about 20 minutes to clean and scrub). I've had to seriously cut back my wardrobe which surprisingly makes it easier to dress myself. There has been a lot of change in my lifestyle. I will post pictures of the camper soon, I promise.

I ran across these pictures of one of my dinner parties at my old place. We had a lot of good times there . . .

I've definitely cut back on my waste. Look at all that garbage!

False Definition of Masculinity

Masculinity is not synonymous to dressing like your dad or grandfather. I am tired of looking around me and seeing khaki shorts and polos. Don't get me wrong, I love a Ralph Lauren and Brookes Brothers, but I am sick of seeing guys who don't know how to wear it.

Masculinity is not synonymous to looking like a pro-wrestler. I am tired of seeing affliction shirts, fake tans, and Ed Hardy accessories. Don't get me wrong, I love studded jeans, but I know what to wear them with.

I would like to live in a world where you don't have to travel to South America or Central Europe or Japan to be able to wear certain things as a man in order to be considered manly.

Look:

I live in a camper.

I shower outside.

I do yard work on my friends farm.

I have hair on my chest.

I drink Whiskey.

I ride four wheelers.

I camp.

I hike.

These things are not what make me manly; they are manly things.

But, I know how to dress.

I wear skinny jeans because they make my legs look longer.

I wear shorter shorts because when I am outside in the hot sun, I don't like being covered up.

I wear boots for many reasons.

I just wish my fellow bros could get it together. I'm not saying that every guy should run out and find a sequins blazer and embellish the shoulders with spikes (but that would be awesome). I am simply trying to get people to break out of the box that Southern culture has trapped you in.

I coined a new phrase the other day: Taxidermy Chic. I typed it into a google image search which, you know is one of my favorite things to do, and I found these images:

It's funny that as we move into the future, we cling to the past. You see more and more vegetarians, vegans, and organic free rangers these days, but as our venture towards being kind to animals and the environment progresses, I can see a trend arising points to more primitive adornments. I have been noticing a sort of kitch leading us back to our ancestors who didn't manufacture livestock merely to sell to an obese population. They hunted and used their pray to feed, clothe, and decorate their lives. I've noticed a growing fascination with this over the last few years; I've seen stag head salt and pepper shakers at Anthropologie, and noticed fur and feathers becoming more and more trendy. This growing trend seems to be in competition with the growing popularity of animal protection. . . Interesting.

When I get excited about something, I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut. I wanted to get Chatham Hellmers prospective on Taxidermy chic. She owns and operates my favorite accessory shop in Birmingham, Charm (charmonsecond.com) and I knew that she would have some contributions seeing as how her merchandising can sometimes be quite taxidermy chic. Yesterday was my friend Tamra's Birthday celebration. We originally planned a casual picnic in the park, but when we heard that The Great Book of John was playing a free show at WorkPlay, we decided to get dolled up. The birthday Cinderella needed a gown so I stepped in as her fairy god father (should I be uncomfortable saying that?) We found a SCARY 80's Mother of the Bride dress that had been thrown away and bippity boppity boo!

So we were all dressed up and ready to hit the town. When we got to Workplay I saw my friend Sicily Mclean who informed me that this was an event to raise awareness on human trafficking (not what we expected!). Had I known about the event I would have planned on attending, but it probably wasn't the most appropriate place to be when drenched in sequins and ready to party. We missed the band but sat in on a heart wrenching documentary. Happy Birthday Tamra, hope you enjoyed spending it in tears!

I met Jennifer and Kristen Cloudt a couple of years ago at my friend Anna Laura's baby shower. Jennifer was still in middle school and Kristen was in Elementary school. I was shocked a couple of months back to receive a facebook friends request from them, but have been inspired ever since. These girls love the art of fashion. I see young girls all the time who think they are into fashion (usually just the product of their mother's shopping addiction) but again I'll say that these girls are intrigued by fashion as art. Originally from Atlanta, these girls were recently whisked to the middle of no where; a small town called Big Island, Virginia. Kristen (the Blondie) is only 15 and loves doing hair and make up. Jennifer bought her first camera when she was 11 after saving the money she made working in her parents bakery. These girls have some raw natural talent and I am excited to be the first person to blog about them! I can't wait to see them grow and to hopefully be able to work with them one day. You'll surely see more of them on here.

So, this 70's two piece set has been sitting at Zoe for a while, and was actually in the store for a number of months last year. It was a weird length and the waist was tiny so there wasn't much interest in it. A little repurposing goes a long way! I bubbled the skirt under, but at different lengths to create it's strange shape. If I would have created an even bubble, it would have been skanky short. I feel like it has a couture edge now that it has been changed. That little change must have been all it needed because it wasn't 24 hours after changing it that Lucy Mann stumbled into the store and fell in love! It looks great with the vintage Saks Fifth Avenue shoes. Lucy racked up today and got this one of a kind outfit for around $50 bucks.

So today, I have been altering vintage clothes. I re purposed the pink skirt which was originally floor length, and the white/gold skirt which was just past the knee. I really like how they turned out. Oh, and I purchased the mustard bag. It is vintage Coach and will be perfect as a camera bag. Hope your Tuesday was more eventful.

Meet Cory Bordonaro, one of my many favorite Baristas at Urban Standard and the creator/artist for fourhatspress.com I spent my lunch break sitting with her and Fido talking a little about life and sweat. Everyone needs a coffee house with smiling faces. It's therapy.

All I know about this girl is that she is an aspiring archeologist, and that her boyfriend usually dresses her. She looked really cute in this outfit, but sometimes, no matter how cute they look fancied up, girls just want to wear jeans and teeshirts. I meant to get her info, but she snuck out right after the pictures were taken.

. . . and then there was Lindsey.

Hope you're not getting tired of seeing this lovely lady on here. She is one of my favorite shoppers at Zoe, and I usually don't let her leave without letting me take a shot or two. Maybe she will be my "factory girl"... who knows!

There's been a lot of buzz on Zoe lately. I cought a well dressed young man taking snap shots of our mannequins last week. I went to approach him, smile on my face, and he bolted for his car. I have NO clue what was going on, but I figured it was high time for me to start recording the looks that I style. I really wish girls in Birmingham dressed like this. We have a lot of great pieces that I refer to as "effortless vintage" right now.

Norman Norell is, by many, considered to be one of the foremost fashion designers in the US. He is the first recipient of the "Winnie" Coty Award in 1943. This was an award given to American fashion designers to recognise their contributions to the fashion industry. Norell, who left Military school during World War I, studied fashion design at Pratt Institute. He got his start designing for silent movies and Broadway and later went on to start Traina-Norrell, a fashion company with Anthony Traina.

I find his story and designs extremely fascinating. What goes around comes around. When you look at this clothing, you will see that these pieces are timeless and could fit right in with retailers like Anthropologie or J. Crew.

Thanks Lindsey for modeling this FANTASTIC 1960's French couture coat for me! I needed to get some snapshots to remember it by before it leaves Zoe. I really think that was one of the best pieces we have ever carried in the shop.

Hey, if you aren't in Birmingham you might get a kick out of this. That coat sold for only $145.00! Birmingham really doesn't have the market for vintage that it needs. We are constantly sifting through great vintage designer lables at the thrift shops and estate sales. It is rediculous. I've started a pretty great collection that I can't wait to travel with.

Anyways, hope your Cinco de Mayo is wild.

Highland and Ponce meet Giant Lion!

So, if you have been following me for a while, or if you know me in person, you would know about my deep love for an old friend- Oni. Well, we have been staying in touch despite our two hour time zone difference. Though it can be hard sometimes, we make it a point to talk on the phone at least two or three times a week (sometimes, I get a groggy voice when it is 9:00 am central and 7:00 am western). She called me about two weeks ago while I was taking a bubble bath on an off day and asked me if I knew any bands or musicians that might be interested in allowing her to sample their music for a promo video for her clothing line: Highland and Ponce. I recommended Giant Lion (giantlionmusic.com), an Atlanta based group that I grew up with and currently lurk. She loved them (duh!) and the guy shooting the video thought it would be a good match. It is exciting to make the connection for people that I adore. What a small world: a designer in Cali, a designer in Bama, and musicians in Hotlanta. Glad it all worked out.

My last two weeks have been a roller coaster ride of work and play and emotions. Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I got a design job that looks like it is going to be a lot of work, stress, and hopefully money! I will have more details for you once it is on paper.

My Easter celebration was wonderful. I am so thankful for my community. I've been spending a lot of time gathering and organizing lately. It is exciting to see my group of friends grow as a family. I know this might seem out of place and maybe too personal for a fashion/personal interest blog, but I am CONSTANTLY inspired by the diverse group of people that I have been planted in.

The People of the Labyrinths is a clothing brand that I have been coming across a lot lately. I have grown to love it! I really think it is one of the more unique brands today. This Dutch based brand was created in 1984 by Hans Demoed and Geert De Rooij. They specialize in hand died fabrics and original screen print with digital techniques. Hans Demoed and Geert De Rooij just celebrated their first 25 years in business with The People of the Labyrinths. I can't wait to see what else they will come up with next. Ok, I'm inspired now. Let me see if I can figure out this screen printing biz.

David Benjamin Sherry is one of the hippest professional photographers in the biz right now. While it is hard to say that there is much ground left to break these days, I think that a comparison between he and Andy Warhol is worth mentioning stylistically. You don't catch a lot of high art photography in mainstream media these days. You certainly didn't see it in the 1960's either, but it seems as though Warhol's influence which was once shocking, is paving the way for a new generation of commercial photography and art.

A few weeks ago, in an attempt to reconnect with a friend of mine, Kara Q Smith, I volunteered to assist with an opening that she was organizing at Art Folk Gallery in one of my new favorite districts of Birmingham: Dr. Pepper Place. To be completely honest, I knew very little about this particular opening before I showed up. I received a FANTASTIC surprise gift that night because this was one of the very best art openings I have ever been to. I know, I know, I am always saying that, and I always mean that. This was my very first time being in Art Folk gallery, which is a wonderful space, but more importantly, this was my first time seeing Arthur Price's work which, I must say, is extremely impressive and inspiring.

There is a unique fluidity that exists in the relationship between his pieces yet, many are thematically and stylistically unrelated. (ex: the medieval ladies and the underwater landscape.) I was reminded of Alphonse Mucha when I saw the pieces that showed a beautiful landscape in harmony with a flowing gown. Every room or nook was completely different and unexpected, yet each one carried a similar feeling. Many of Art's works were larger than life in scale and theme, while some portrayed a great deal of realism. The work was very romantic.

Another thing worth mentioning about the night was the wonderful sense of community that existed. Many or Arthur's friends and family members were there to show support alongside other local artists and business owners. My friend Matt and I were stuck behind a table serving wine for a major portion of the evening. We had a conversation about how encouraging it is to see people come together in support of Price and his art. I am looking forward to one day seeing more of his work.

I've been really in to making broaches and boutonnieres out of vintage scarves and scrap pieces of tulle lately. Here is another pair of shades that I ordered for the shop. They kind of have a classic Hollywood shape. I love the way this late 50's/early 60's dress fits Tamra's hour glass. Again I will say that I am so excited about spring!

Fat Tuesday in Skinny Jeans

I was scrambling around the house in my boxers this morning trying to find at least one pair of clean jeans. I have been super busy with work lately and have neglected some of my house hold chores . . . like laundry. I opened my dryer and found these H&M skinny jeans that Lana gave me a couple of weeks ago. I forgot they were there, so I put them on and started hunting for a shirt. I opened my wardrobe and found a bunch of naked hangers. I looked at the bottom and saw this vintage tux shirt that I haven't worn since Halloween 2006 and decided this was the way to go.

I hadn't even realized that it was Fat Tuesday until I got to work! Well, it seems like without thinking about it, my style subconscious was excited about Marti Gras because my outfit made for a great base for festive apparel.

I love this jacket! It is an XXL cocktail jacket from the 80's and is a bit over sized with shoulder pads as big as my face! I'm buying it today so that I can use it as a tux jacket. I don't really like suits unless they are made of separates. This one is FANTASTIC, and I have already received lots of compliments.

I must give photo credit to one of my dearest friends Carly Minor for leaving work to take these pictures. HAY GARL! She is so pretty that I had to upload these photos (which she wasn't even posing for). I took them to look at the light before realizing it was coming from her. I yam sneaky sneaky!

This adorable red head came to Zoe today looking for an outfit to wear for a show that she and her band, The Tin Cans, are playing at Second Row Studio on February 13th. I styled this look for her with Zoe's vintage lingerie. The outfit is still available, except for the boots, which Kaylor purchased. She is sweet as cookies, and cute as kittens. The Tin Cans have an alt-country sound, which you probably guessed: I love that. This is not the look she will be wearing, if you want to see that, you'll have to wait for the 13th!

I met Margot S. Wade about two months ago. She came into Zoe a little out of breath and asked me to strip a mannequin of a sexy late 7o's red cocktail dress in my window display. She tried it on and came out of her dressing room in her tube socks to ask me for my opinion. I could tell by looking at her that this probably wasn't a dress that would be able to hide in her closet among what I could only imagine to be button down flannels and skinny jeans.

I told her she looked very glamorous and asked her where she was going to wear the dress.

She told me she needed to wear something for a reception ceremony for an art installation that she was constructing.

I found out that she was bred in the world of "over the mountain" sothern debutant balls, coming out parties, and old old money. She escaped to an all women's college in the north where she was shocked by the different identity ascribed to Woman, Black, Homosexual, and Queer.

The reception was last night at Space 111, a new non-profit gallery in Birmingham. It was honestly one of the coolest instalations that I have been to in a long time. There was a dinner table with set up with a formal spread with provocative messages on the china. The room was lit by a single chandeleer which was supported by the fabric made trunk of the "elephant in the room". A medicine cabinet containing perscription pill bottles containing pubic hair that Margot saved from debutant grooming, fingernail clippings, and other very natural yet grotesque unmentionables as a sort of satyrical look at the society she was raised in.

I had to BEG Taylor, another Co-worker, to let me style her for your viewing pleasure. She wasn't "in the mood", but it was about to start raining. I bribed her, and she reluctantly consented. We ran outside, set up a shot, and took only one photo because it started pouring the second the flash went off. I think it is pretty good for a first shot. I would have liked to show more of these fantastic boots that my friend Lana had on consignment at Zoe. Taylor fell in love though and is buying them today. The rest of the outfit and accessories however are still available at Zoe.
